TukuTickets for Tuku’s musical production Nzou neMhuru muDanga at 7 Arts Theatre in Avondale, Harare, go on sale at the venue on the day of the show - Friday 26th February 2010 - starting 4pm.
There are limited 850 tickets (at $25 per head) that are numbered for purposes of orderly sitting arrangement and the convenience of many of those who dislike the jostling at public performances.
The concert is being filmed for the production of a live DVD. To avoid interference with filming and staging, the show producers are restricting photography at the concert. The setting is such that film crews, the musicians and set require their space without undue interference.
Pictures of the concert will be provided to the Press upon request from Tuku Music Company as from Saturday 27th February 2010, 8am. The media has already been notified who to contact. Tuku Music Company regrets the inconvenience the restriction on photography may cause.
The concert starts at 10 pm but as from 8pm musician Munya Mataruse and Kazevezeve will provide entertainment. Munya is one of the many young products from Tuku’s arts academy at Pakare Paye Arts Centre in Norton.
The concert concept is by Tuku who is also the artistic director of the production that essentially celebrates his legacy of music that he is passing on to the younger musicians through collaborations. Youthful musicians happen to make up the bigger number among at least 25 artists involved.
Nzou neMhuru muDanga is more than the day-to-day concert in every respect. It is testament to Tuku’s legendary and consummate showmanship.
The theatrical script pollinates across genres and forms – there is a full mbira cast, contemporary dancers, Tuku and Sam Mtukudzi as a duet and with their full separate bands, The Black Spirits and Ay Band respectively as they perform in a makeshift enclosure representing a kraal and nursing pen for the elephant and its baby hence the theme Nzou neMhuru muDanga loosely translated meaning an elephant and its baby in the pen. – tukumusik.com
