HARARE - Brace yourself…the LEGENDS are coming! No doubt this one has got to be the BIG one here for the year as Tuku continues illuminating jazz festivals across the world. Under one roof on one stage in one city Tuku joins Hugh Masekela and Ladysmith Black Mambazo for the annual Harare Jazz Festival on Saturday April 17 2010. The show of the LEGENDS is certainly a must for the discerning jazz connoisseurs. The threesome have never performed together on Zimbabwe soil and it may not be soon to get the icons playing together again here due to their never ending international engagements that nearly always keep them on the road. That is why you have to be part of the LEGENDS concert at Harare Sports Club. Tuku has the honour to kick-off the concert at 4pm and all the reason why fans must be punctual not to miss the grand-opening of the festival. Hugh Masekela will do the grand finale but in between are Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Sibongile Khumalo (SA), Themba Mkize (SA), Silvia Manco Quartet (Italy), Mbare Trio (Zim), Cool Crooners (Zim) and Jazz Invitation (Zim). It is a family outing and one too for groups, corporate company executives and organizations who nearly always stay away from the more public performances. Here is one massive up-market show for you! The festival organizers said fans to the LEGENDS could buy group or individual tickets from the Harare Jazz Festival desk at the foyer of Meikles Hotel in Harare. The desk is open daily during working hours. Tuku, Masekela and Ladysmith are revered international artists whose music has successfully transcended cultural lines and continues to bring different people of the world together - united by music. It could be music about the many different areas of life by Tuku or the township music for the down trodden by Masekela. It could also be that sheer panache in the a-cappella of the “come kiss me nice-nice” Ladysmith. But at the end of the day the music has continued dominating people’s lives and maintaining relevance as a medium of expression for daily life experiences. – tukumusik.com See pictures below.
