HARARE – Tuku recently appointed Zimbabwe’s first goodwill ambassador for the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) covering Eastern and Southern Africa has met with his Irish counterpart Donncha O’ Callaghan.

Callaghan, a top rugby player for Ireland’s national team, is in Zimbabwe on UNICEF business and has visited hospitals, schools and other institutions that work with children.

Tuku also met with the executive director of UNICEF Ireland Melanie Verwoerd who is a former South African ambassador to Ireland.

Callaghan and Tuku discussed, among several other issues, how they as ambassadors could strengthen advocacy for the development of children.
