NORTON – The annual SPAR Solo Fest Pakare Paye is on again during its traditional month of December at Pakare Paye Arts Centre here.

We have moved the festival date from the last week of December to the second week of the month thereabout.

As the festival grows, in nearly every aspect of things, we are hoping that we will this year be able to give it an international dimension by having not just one foreign artist but two if we are lucky.

Last year we had a good mix of young and seasoned artists performing solo away from their day-to-day supporting acts.

Amongst the seasoned artists last year was a fairly big number that had never in all their careers performed solo. We are happy that after the performances the artists had developed amazing levels of individual confidence that they could go away and stage shows solo.

That is exactly the thrust of the SPAR Solo Festival Pakare Paye as conceived by its founder and executive producer Oliver Mtukudzi whose desire was to provide a day and venue when individual artists would perform entirely solo to enhance their confidence and master the art of making a living by themselves individually.

We are also hoping to have workshops preceding the main performances that are presented across several art forms from drama, poetry, music, dance, martial arts, storytelling, etcetera…

We will continue issuing updates in due course. – tukumusik.com
