As Oliver Mtukudzi received his honorary MSc. degree (Fine Arts) from the Women’s University in Africa, at a colourful ceremony in Harare today, he particularly poured tribute to women in quite some glowing poetic compliments before a cheering crowd of at least 1 000 guests: I wouldn’t be what I am if it wasn’t for a woman. I was born of a woman and I married one. For me to have vakuwasha (son-in-laws) it is because of a woman. Of the 35 years of my career in music, a university of women has honored me today. Above that I have been capped by a woman. Enough respect to women! My life has been and is supported by women. To sing and perform like I do ndinenge ndabikirwa nemunhukadzi (its because of the support of a woman)…a unique woman for that matter. – www.tukumusik.com
