From San Diego to London - Mbabane to Mutare - Harare to Jo’burg…Tuku’s hectic festive season wouldn’t be complete without destination Norton, the headquarters of Tuku Music.

Straight from Harare International Conference Centre, for the “Shut Down” show (Friday 18, December), Tuku plays in his own backyard at Pakare Paye Arts Centre in his Norton hometown where he hosts LKZee aka Leornard Karikoga Zhakata (solo) on Unity Day (Tuesday 22, December) 4pm to 11pm.

Expected to join Tuku and Zhakata is one of Tuku’s old friends, Steve Makoni (solo, too). Two of some of the pioneers of Pakare Paye, Sam Mtukudzi and Munya Matarutse will also perform solo so will Mercelain Kwava a mbira diva.

So, its exclusively a solo affair. 

Tuku, who has revealed in his 2010 Plan released today, says his fans will next year be seeing him assuming more different formats, from playing with a full band, to staging in a trio, duet and sometimes solo. He, too, plays solo at the Norton gig. Tuku says different formats give variety to his music and opens it (music) to a wider world.

Tuku’s last performance for the year is on Thursday 31, December 2009 at the City Sports Centre in Harare where he joins several other artists at a corporate promotional show. – tukumusik.com
